Software Architect
Justin began his career at the Mohawk Applied Research Centre in Hamilton, Ontario in 2008 where he played a vital role in establishing Canada’s first reference implementation of the pan-Canadian standards based Health Information Exchange (HIE). The effort was established as a partnership between Canada Health Infoway and Mohawk College to measure and test standards based HIE in the Canadian context. During this work, Justin was introduced to, and became skilled in standards based integrations based on HL7v2, HL7v3, CDA, FHIR, DICOM, as well IHE profiles.
Throughout the past decade Justin has participated in several international initiatives including standards profiling (through IHE and HL7), health IT training, and development of tooling including the Everest HL7v3/CDA toolkit, Master Patient Index (MPI), and intelligent Clinical Data Repository (CDR) software. Most recently, Justin has been involved in standards training delivery with SIL-A and planning activities related to MPI in Myanmar and Vietnam. In his spare time, Justin contributes heavily to open source health systems initiatives including development, design, and coordination of the MEDIC CR, Everest, OpenIZ, and SanteDB communities.
