VIRTUAL –  Standards and Interoperability Lab – Asia (SIL-Asia) Technical Director, Philip Christian Zuniga presented a webinar entitled, ‘Starting with HL7-FHIR’ last December 17, 2020 via the AeHIN Hour. SIL-Asia updated the AeHIN community on the use of its HL7-FHIR starter toolkit, a repository of existing tools and guidance to help groups kickstart their FHIR-related initiatives and projects. Forty-eight participants attended the webinar session.

The toolkit was developed to provide a central source of all the resources that a country or an organization needs to start using Health Level Seven International – Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (HL7-FHIR). Now, the toolkit already contains a curriculum and some tutorials to develop HL7-FHIR capacity for various users – primary healthcare facilities, hospitals, and ministries of health.

For more information, SIL-Asia’s FHIR video tutorials are available here. SIL-Asia’s FHIR server may also be accessed for testing purposes.

The Standards and Interoperability Lab – Asia is a regional health interoperability laboratory powered by the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) and supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with sponsorship from the Republic of Korea e-Asia and Knowledge Partnership Fund.
The concept for the Standards and Interoperability Lab – Asia was first conceived at the Regional Interoperability Workshop organized by AeHIN in Manila last August 2015 at the sidelines of the Global Health Research Forum. The regional lab was designed to serve as a template of labs in each country that will later form into the Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL).
